Xinisteri is a white grape native to Cyrus that has only recently come to find international acclaim. Unoaked, mineral and fresh, the beautifully balanced palate leads to a mouth-watering finish. A unique and intriguing wine. Fabulous!

For fans of Villa Maria, this is where you find the self-same wine, under their alternative label, and at better value! This 'de-classified' wine comes from the Villa Maria Estate in Marlborough, and shows the classic New Zealand Sauvignon style. Aromatic notes of gooseberry and cut grass on the nose with a rich palate of tropical fruit. Defined and lifted, this is the perfect crowd pleasing wine for a party.

Winemaker Andre Farjon has 50 hectares of vines that he started farming biodynamically in 2008 and are now certified organic. The grapes are sourced from clay and limestone slopes around the town of Uchaux, as well as the gravel and clay soils on the flatter areas around Cairanne, giving Farjon a range of terroirs with which to work.

The Côtes du Rhône La Devèze blends Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan to produce a rich, black cherry and plump plum core, with hot stone notes buried on the finish. Medium-full bodied and well balanced, it beguiles with underlying notes of aromatic scrubby herbs like lavender and rosemary. Bodegas Juan Gil own over 500 hectares of vineyards, between 700 and 850 metres altitude, in the northwest of Jumilla: old bush vine Monastrell planted in chalky soils, and Shiraz grown in sandy soils on younger, trellised vines. This is bold, plush, rich and ripely fruited, and just hugs you like a bear. When Bordeaux becomes a little blasé, you go to Napa for some blue-sky thinking. You can literally taste those long, sunny California days when you drink a wine like this. Decant before serving. Often better the next day, if you have any left…

This is a stunning Chardonnay. Bursting with Californian sunshine, this certainly doesn't hold back, in fact it reaches out and smothers you in a warm embrace! Wonderful ripe fruit flavours include orange, nectarine and ripe peach. There is a subtle spice and notes of hazlenut and honey. This will go really well with roast chicken and any butter cooked fish.

From the St Guilhem le Désert region in the sunny Val de Montferrand. Comprised of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah, this wonderful southern French wine lives and breathes the Langueoc style. With a lush richness and an inviting character, some inclusion of whole-bunch Syrah adds a perfume and lightness to the palate. Medium-bodied and in no way overblown, there is a finesse and liveliness not often found in these grapes from this part of the world. Very 'alive' tasting. With 10 generations of organic winemaking under their belt, this family Chateau certainly know what they're doing!  ORGANIC.

Cult wine! Comprised of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cinsault and even a little Viognier, the fruit is sourced from all over the Cape area with each vineyard selected for the best quality fruit. You are enticed into the glass with a complex bouquet of blackcurrants, raspberries and mocha… On the palate, the wine explodes with black fruits, exotic spices, violets and vanilla. Full bodied most certainly! But the weight and supple tannins are well integrated, making this a very drinkable, extremely crowd-pleasing wine. 

A young and fruity Malbec from the Porretta family vineyards in the high-altitude Luján de Cuyo region of Mendoza, Argentina. Soft and supple flavours of cherries, plums, and a pleasing, bright finish.  Recently awarded 90 points from James Suckling.

Langhe is a satellite appelation of Barolo, with the same rolling hills and, more importantly, the same speciality in growing Nebbiolo grapes. Showing an intense bouquet evolving from dried rose petals to cherry fruits with a hint of tobacco and savoury spice. Great Nebbiolo blend perfect for those who like Barolo without paying Barolo prices!

Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Cabernet Franc, showing very ripe red fruit with some firm structure. Already drinking beautifully (and will for some time yet); and as ever a very superior Bordeaux Rouge - winner of a Gilbert & Gaillard gold medal 2018. We sold pallets and pallets of the 2016 vintage, but arguably the 2016 is even better: The cooler nights of 2018 brought a little more finesse to the reds - a trait that we much admire in Bordeaux. Winemaker Jason Lett's father was among the first handful of people to plant Pinot Noir in Oregon in the 1960's. What a revolution they started! From the original sites in the much-lauded Dundee Hills appelation in Oregon, where volcanis deposits mix with sandstone on ancient soils, this is a bright red beauty with a subtle smoky aroma and deep, complex fruit notes. Taut and focused on the palate, reminiscent of fresh strawberry jam, wild herbs and a winter fireside, all complimented with a lovely underlying spicy-earthiness. With super-fine tannins and a satisfyingly long finish, this is a classic representation for the lover of ageworthy Pinot noir. Give it time to breathe before drinking - this is really a wine that evolves over a number of hours, so don't miss out on the myriad layers by rushing things. Savour. Enjoy.

There's Greek wine and there's Greek wine... This is not the stuff of beachside Tavernas but comes from one of the most modern and accomplished winemakers in Greece. Whether you are a Viognier fan or not, this is a must-try; silken, rich and supple, beautifully fruited and just packed with complexity and finesse. A shop favourite.

Proper white Côtes du Rhône; fresh, medium-bodied, vinous. The nose is pretty and delicate, with a
waft of fennel tops and hints of hedgerow flowers. The flavours are nuanced and refined rather than
overt. Careful use of oak adds texture and structure without masking the freshness of this very
drinkable white.

 From selected vineyards in the southern Rhône, Each parcel is picked separately in the cooler
early daylight hours for gentle pressing that same morning, and each is fermented at a low
temperature. To a base of Grenache Blanc, they blend Viognier along with co-fermented pairs of
Roussanne/Marsanne and Bourboulenc/Clairette. Over the years they have increased the proportion
vinified in stainless steel, with just under a third of the wine now vinified and matured for 6 months
French oak barrels (mostly 3rd fill but some new) to add complexity and creaminess.

Herencia Altes take as much trouble making their entry level wines as they do their top cuvee's, and it really shows in the wonderful red wine. Fruity, smooth, and very drinkable, with deep layers of dark strawberry and cinnamon and a long finish. A stunning all-rounder that can be drunk on its own or with charcuterie and anything from a Sunday roast to bangers and mash! Winemaker recommendation; try lighly chilled in the summer for a refreshing red.

A blend of two grapes native to Macedonia and rarely seen outside of the country. Complex and inviting aromas of bramble, damson plum, and wild cherry combine with subtle hints of vanilla and toasty, savoury notes. Beautifully textured with a mouth-filling palate of ripe fruits against a mineral backdrop leading to a long-lasting finish. A truly stunning wine at this price. Decanter's Platinum Award winner 2018.

The lesser-known white grape of Burgundy, Aligote is a hidden gem that performs very similarly to Chardonnay in the glass, with rounded nutty tones, creamy notes and a fresh acidity. As classic Burgundy gets more expensive, Aligote offers brilliant value for money from the same terroirs. And terroir is what Burgundy is all about.

The Jaume family have been making wine in the Rhone since 1826. They still own the same vineyards and some of the vines are over 100 years old. This, their truly excellent Blanc de Viognier is testament to their achievements in making white Rhone wines of top quality at accesible prices. Organic.

Taste a piece of history! Revived by the great-great-grandson of the original James eadie, this blend brings together the single malts of the range into a wonderfully full and expressive whisky that surpasses the sum of its parts. Regular award winner.

Nose: Raisins drizzled with spiced rum and Sherry, a hint of grassy peat, oily walnut.

Palate: Mexican chocolate, ripe red berries, brown sugar, another waft of soft peat smoke.

An easy blend of Gargenaga and Chardonnay from the shores of lake Garda. Easy drinking and perfect for parties.

One of the best examples of un-oaked chardonnay from the Chalonnais. François picks relatively late in order to guarantee full maturity of the fruit leading to a wonderfully decadent Montagny that provides weighty, exotic fruit, raised entirely without oak. Despite this, it is incredibly engaging and seductive. Expect a tight and mineral palate alive with lemon and stone fruit.  Finishes crisp and long.

The vineyards of L'Enfant are owned and controlled by one family, and are located in the La Seca region of Rueda. Head-trained bush vines range in age from 35 to 55 years and are hand harvested.A dry, tasty and perfectly balanced wine. Bright and mouthwatering, typical of the Verdejo grape, but it is also rounded with plush volume. Falling somewhere between a Sancerre and a Chablis stylistically, but with more (very appealing) leesy character that brings a savoury, lactic weight. Superb concentration whislt retaining a lightness of foot. Moreish!Pairs well with rice dishes, white meat and fish.

This really is the Holy Grail. The 'Meursault' wine at Bourgogne prices. We were honestly blown away by this and think you will be too.
Patrick Javillier makes Meursault, Volnay, and Puligny, owning land in each and on the peripheries between. The grapes for this cuvée are grown on the Volnay side of Meursault, and the vineyard quality shines through in the wine. Generous, sensuous, engaging. Rich with aromas of apricot yoghurt, lemon posset and green mango. Seamlessly bound together in subtle, nutty, toasty oak, and balanced by a bright bite of freshness on the finish. White Burgundy par-excellence.

When Dave and Diana Palmer left the UK, it was supposed to be a three-year stint in Papua New Guinea, where Dave had found a job. Six years later, work took them to Canberra until, three years further on, Dave resigned to set up his own business.

When they heard that this winery was up for sale they sold the house and the sports car, packed up the kids and the cat, and moved to South Australia, pouncing on the opportunity to own this prime piece of vineyard territory. This, their Riesling, comes from vines established in the 1980's in the cool Clare valley.

The nose has an intense aromatic lift of musk, ginger spice and fresh Tahitian lime juice. The palate is focused, with a lovely backbone of natural acidity that supports a natural fruit sweetness with flavours of mango, red grapefruit and kumquats coming through. The wine demonstrates fantastic line and length and has a zesty dry finish.

Distilled with nine botanicals, Cotswolds Dry Gin is a London Dry with an aromatic twist. Juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, local lavender, bay leaf, hand-peeled fresh lime and pink grapefruit zest, cardamom and black peppercorn are distilled in a copper pot still, resulting in a rich and robust, award-winning gin.

Cotswolds Distillery does not remove the essential oils in their gin as these create a rich flavour and mouthfeel. As a result, the gin forms a unique pearlescent cloud when ice or tonic is added, and it tastes delicious!

A tight, minerally wine with classic Hamilton Russell Vineyards length and complexity. Unusually prominent pear and lime fruit aromas and flavours are brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of bright natural acid and a long, dry minerality. At an altitude of 365 metres, Monthelie overlooks the Auxey-Duresses and Meursault valleys. The Changarnier family has lived in this village for several centuries, founding the domaine in 1720. Now, Claude and Antoine Changarnier continue this wine-growing tradition. Their professional careers carried them far from the wine world, but their Burgundy roots remain anchored in this terroir.

Domaine des Tourelles Red is from one of the oldest and most highly acclaimed wineries in the Bekaa Valley. Blended from old vine Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Cinsault, this is a rich, fruity red with ripe plum and cherry fruit and silky tannins. Just made for lamb & aubergine dishes.

Founded in 1868 by French adventurer François-Eugène Brun, this was the first commercial cellar in Lebanon producing wines. Artisan winemaking skills and traditions are applied to their handcrafted wines - this includes minimum intervention in the vineyards and cellar, use of indigenous natural yeasts, no fining or filtering, and only very small amounts of sulphur. Domaine des Tourelles is classified amongst the finest boutique wineries of the Middle East.

With its funky, wonky bottle, this is instantly eye-catching, but this wine is no novelty! Made from the Nebbiolo grape - of greater fame in Barolo - but making no less of a wine here. And easier to approach in early years. Aromas of eucalyptus, exotic spice, underbrush and aromatic herb lead the nose. The tightly knit palate offers cranberry, dried cherry, star anise and clove set against taut, close-grained tannins. Winner of the GamberoRosso Italian wine award for the region. An off-piste but truly rewarding wine from Piedmont. Bolognese anyone?

2017 vintage

Gérald Lafont and Baptiste Olivier are known throughout France as two of the Rhône Valley's top oenologists. Their consulting work for many of the best estates throughout the region and in Provence has given them access to a percentage of the grape yield from some of the highest acclaimed vineyards in the region. Their collective wine-making knowledge and experience, combined with their access to some of the top fruit in the region, allows them to consistently create some of the best value wines in the Rhône today.

A luscious blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. Made from vines up to 70 years of age, the deep roots mine the mineral depths of one of the world's most famous terroirs. Such deep, entrancing aromas emanate from the glass; a rich blend of red and dark berry fruit, mixed with notes of earth, garrigue herbs, and hints of spice. It is structured and full-bodied, yet soft and sensual. Wonderfully minerality runs throughout the wine, mingling with lush cassis and dark jammy fruits that caress the palate.

This exceptional Pinot Nero is produced in tiny quantities from Cavit's very best vineyards. A very fine example of the grape by any standards. Grown on the south-west and south-east facing slopes around Povo; a mixture of glacial limestone and volcanic soils. Hand-harvested in mid-September. The must is fermented in contact with the skins for 10 days, and matured for 20 months in 225 litre French oak barriques. The wine spends around 10 months in bottle before release.

The Dveri Pax estate belongs to the Benedictine Monastery of Admont and wine has been made here since 1139 A.D. The Pax wine is made from local grape Furmint, blended with Pinot Gris, with an enlivening splash of Riesling. Dry, crisp, brightly fruited and mineral, this could literally be the Holy Grail! So refreshing and moreish; a real customer favourite for its originality and personality.

Aromas are reminiscent of ripe black fruits such as blackberries, ripe cherries and plums, with floral hints such as violets blended with spicy notes, vanilla and chocolate driven by the oaked toasty bouquet. It is full-bodied, with sweet tannins and a velvety texture in the mouth that finishes long and smooth.

This complex and elegant Malbec spends 18 months in French oak barrels. Drinking well now but can easily age for 15+ years. Only on it's second vintage, this wine is already recieving accolaides such as 92pts from Tim Atkin MW and is rated among the top 4% highest rated wines in the world on Vivino.

Ayala's zero-dosage Champagne. A lean, fresh, taut-yet-supple Champagne, given texture and body from extended lees ageing. Apple fresh, with pleasing preserved lemon and brioche notes. Delicious and ultimately refreshing. Perfect with oysters and sushi. Or fish and chips!

This exquisite and superb-value wine has a fine, elegant nose of fresh red-cherry fruit and sweet spice, and a perfumed bouquet with hints of pot pourri, raspberry tea and red liquorice. Developing notes of leather and tobacco. The balanced acidity – one of López de Heredia’s trademarks – is astonishing, as is its complexity and freshness, while the finish is enduring, mouthcoating and intense. From renowned winemaker Phillipe Bouzereau, comes this pristine and definitive expression of an extremely fine Chardonnay. Opulent and mouthwatering, with intense floral and citrus fruits combined with nutty, spicy nuances. Full bodied yet silky on the palate, this has an extraordinarily fine, long finish. The Monopole status indicates the relatively rare instance of this coming from a single plot in the Meursault region, outside of Cru status. Absolutely top class.

Biodynamically farmed and 100% organic. A delicious blend of Sauvignon Blanc 57%, Chenin Blanc 39%, Semillon 4%. The Sauvignon Blanc aromas are prominent on the nose, with beautiful lime and prickly pear notes. Intense flavours, with great balance. A tight mineral core and creamy mid palate from the Chenin Blanc allows for great complexity and a persistent finish. The Sauvignon Blanc lends lovely, fresh acidity to the wine. The wine is made as naturally as possible with no added acids or enzymes. Quite frankly this is really outstanding value for a wine from low yieding vines, hand picked and transported to vinification on pack horses!

Verum Bodega Del Río Elorza Chardonnay,

Truly a wine from the very ends of the earth! Verum Chardonnay is a fresh and pure Chardonnay from a family producer in the Valle de Rio Negro, Patagonia, on the southernmost tip of Argentina. A small portion of the cuveé goes through barrel fermenting gives a lovely fresh, creamy texture with citrus and orchard fruits and a hint of spice. Very cool-Burgundian in style, and huge value. In this privileged setting Verum (Bodega Del Río Elorza) was born, a realisation of a combined dream between two families. Tim Atkin MW considers Del Rio Elorza to be one of the top 25 Argentine wineries to watch. 

Originally from Bordeaux, Carmenere has come into it's own in the warmer climes of Chilé. Now considered a 'flagship' grape for the country, it produces wines that please Old & New World wine-lovers alike. An intense violet-red colour, generous aromas of black fruit, red berries, green peppers, and hints of violet give this wine a very well-balanced palate with supple, soft tannins, blackberries, and a juicy, lasting finish. Pair with beef stew, roast beef, or any other hearty dishes.

100% Turbiana (aka Verdicchio) grown on the southern shores of Lake Garda in an organic vineyard. Some extended skin contact gives some wonderful texture to what is otherwise a delicate wine. Like Soave on steroids! Stainless steel fermented with 6 months on lees bringing some savoury notes. A real winner with seafood. Fans of Muscadet or Soave will find a lot to like here. 

Intense ruby colour, violet notes. Lightly tannic, full and persistent aroma. Well balanced and easily drinkable.

Sambuca di Sicilia is an area which has produced fabulous grapes for centuries and Cantine Cellaro's wines are an incomparable expression for this historical area of vines.

Great with red meat, barbecued and grilled meat, excellent with first courses, game birds and seasoned cheese. Try it with eggplant Caponata or braised cauliflower 'Vrocculi Affucati'.
