This windswept Sauvignon Blanc is not concocted from over-croppped grapes, nor pumped up on clever winemaking additives. This authentic wine comes from cool, windswept, ocean-facing vineyards in Stellenbosch. These gems give up meagre yields and small berries, which are hand-harvested to ensure natural intensity and cutting acidity is preserved. Fresh and zesty with grassy and dry bay leaf aromatics, Fynbos (which surrounds the vineyards), mineral notes, with hints of citrussy richness. This is a restrained Sauvignon Blanc with a palate that has lots of minerality and citrus with just a touch of green pepper and grass. Fabulous seaside Sauvignon.

The lesser-known white grape of Burgundy, Aligote is a hidden gem that performs very similarly to Chardonnay in the glass, with rounded nutty tones, creamy notes and a fresh acidity. As classic Burgundy gets more expensive, Aligote offers brilliant value for money from the same terroirs. And terroir is what Burgundy is all about.

A classic mainly Chardonnay-based blend, with the addition of some Pinot Noir showing a balance and finesse typical of Ferghettina wines. Made in the Champagne method, and very Champagne in style, each vineyard is vinified separately until the spring after harvest, when, following scrupulous tastings, the wine is blended into a cuvée and bottled for the prise de mousse. The result is an elegant and decisive sparkling wine, the perfect introduction to the estate's style.

Attractive citrus notes in the nose which soon give way to scents of white peach and crusty bread. Crisp, decisive and long on the palate with traces of hazelnut and white flowers. A fine and persistent finish.

Aromas of warm, ripe dark fruits with black cherry, plum and tarry, smoky notes. The palate is generous and fruit-forward with wild cherry and damson notes combining with spicy, dried fruit characters. Ripe, chewy tannins and fresh acidity give good structure, with an attractive bitter twist on the finish hinting at liquorice and burnt treacle. An impressive example of Nero d'Avola, combining approachability with real interest, depth and complexity.

Away from the rigours of the appellation, in 2004 we planted the grape varieties which we felt would be best suited, those most able to reveal the expression and the qualities of our Brugairolles sandstone terroir. Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, rarely grown in the region, originate from the Loire Valley, home of Winemaker Vincent Chansault.

Pretty raspberry colour, brightened by blackcurrant highlights that immediately evoke an intense sensory experience. On the nose, the wine offers a crisp, fruity experience, reminiscent of a basket of sun-drenched wild berries. Notes of redcurrant and blackberry dominate, creating a bewitching atmosphere. On the palate, the first impression is of the vegetal characteristic of the Cabernet Franc grape yet the fruit still comes through strongly. The attack evokes a harmonious balance between freshness and liveliness. The taut mid-palate brings out notes of redcurrant and cherry, offering an elegant range of fruity flavours. The finish, marked by firm tannins, is offset by the lovely vegetal character. The recognisable notes of green pepper mingle with delicate spices, notably coriander, to create its distinctive signature and add a layer of complexity to the whole.

A very bright, deep, intense golden yellow colour with silver highlights. Its brilliant luminosity is an invitation to taste. The nose reveals aromas of ripe fruit, dominated by notes of quince paste and subtle hints of candied fruit brioche. Accents of mandarin peel add a welcome freshness, harmoniously blended with floral notes of jasmine and a delicate hint of fresh vanilla pod. The attack on the palate is intense and expressive, full of elegance, marked by a sweetness enhanced by a zest of bergamot. Freshness dominates throughout, with lively grapefruit flavours. The finish is long and lingering, enhanced by a hint of white pepper, adding a lovely spicy dimension. The balance offers perfect harmony between aromatic richness and freshness.

Finca Allende Rioja Blanco is a refined white Rioja crafted predominantly from Viura with a touch of Malvasía de Rioja, sourced from mature bush-trained vines in the gravelly clay soils of Briones. Fermented in new French oak and aged on its lees with regular bâtonnage, the winemaking imparts a creamy texture while preserving freshness and structure. The result is a balanced wine where subtle oak integrates with ripe fruit, supported by a mineral backbone and leading to a smooth, dry finish.

From a notably warm vintage, this wine is bold and textural, offering ripe cherry, plum and hints of strawberry, layered with a gentle creaminess on the palate. Beneath the richness lies a core of fresh acidity, fine tannins and subtle spicy mineral notes, bringing balance and a touch of savoury complexity to the sweet fruit. Produced at Finca Allende in Briones, where Miguel Ángel de Gregorio has carefully interpreted the unique terroir since the 1980s, the vineyards benefit from varied exposures and cooling Atlantic influences, shaping a wine that is both expressive and structured, now beginning to develop further depth while retaining elegance and poise.

The Chardonnay grapes come from single vineyards in Buttrio and Prepotto, where the vines have an average age of more than 30 years. Yields maintained at around 40 hl per hectare to retain concentration. Vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks and aged on its own yeasts until March, the wine is bottled with a light filtration.

Very Chablis-esque, but with unmistakable Italian flair. Classic tones, delicately exotic, but typically salty thanks to the fresh, well-integrated acidity that suggests immediate drinkability, but promises a pleasant evolution over the next five years.

Beautiful deep color with brick red halo. Nose of good depth, sweet and harmonious, somewhat witty, rich, soft touches of dark chocolate and cherry (cherry tomato).

Harmonious and elegant wine, some quality structure with amazing spice and mint notes, very crisp fruit, soft. A very enjoyable Vintage Port, now with good tannins to carry it through to old age. Seems softer than usual.

Nose closing in. Lots of fruit, black currant and blackberry, really intense jam with cocoa notes and firm but silky tannins. A powerful Vintage Port. Quality ripe fruit, good expression, cherry, a lovely character.

This wine is produced from the Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet and Aragonez grape varieties, and is aged in new French oak barrels. It is very fruity and full-bodied, with notes of red berries, black cherry and spice. It has great concentration and exuberance, and will age beautifully. 

Using the classic British dessert of Summer Pudding as our inspiration we have a created a Fruit Gin Liqueur to be enjoyed up and down the country, from garden parties to palaces, come rain or shine. Local Strawberries, Raspberries, Redcurrants and Blackcurrants are blended with Foxdenton's own gin to create a sumptuous ‘Best of British Summertime’ Liqueur. With each berry clearly defined on the palate and some serious Gin heft on the finish we cannot imagine a drink more suited to celebration! Chin chin!

A delicious sloe gin from Foxdenton. This is no sweet liqueur, this is a real, dry gin which is destined for neat sipping, or cocktails. It is only gently sweetened with sugar, and is made with Foxdenton's wonderful London Dry Gin.

The 2015 Barolo Riserva Cannubi is dense and expressive, with all of the richness of the year front and centre. Sweet red cherry, mint, pine, anise, dried flowers and spice all develop in this open-knit, supple Barolo. Time in the glass brings out the wine's textural depth and resonance. rançois and Julien Pinon are renowned for producing exceptional wines in the Vouvray region. François, who previously worked as a child psychologist, assumed control of the vineyard from his father in 1987 and has since established a strong reputation for the estate. As a committed winemaker, his primary objective is to maintain the distinctive characteristics of both the appellation and the vintage in all of his wines. With Julien`s involvement, the family`s commitment to organic viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking has been further solidified. For this particular release, the wine was aged in previously used barrels for a duration of 4 months prior to bottling. It exhibits delightful hints of green apple, delicately enveloping a core of vibrant, lively acidity.

This is a real achievement in English winemaking. A textural and complex wine made with 15% Chardonnay blended into the Bacchus. The Bacchus brings Sauvignon-like aromatics of cut-grass and gooseberry, whilst the Chardonnay brings a little richness and depth. Fruit sourced from different vineyard sites brings further complexity.  A zesty wine, but with enough breadth and softness to keep well back from the 'austere and green' element of may English wines. The beautiful label evokes an English garden in summer, which is, arguably, what this wine tastes like.

And easier to approach in early years. Aromas of eucalyptus, exotic spice, underbrush and aromatic herb lead the nose. The tightly knit palate offers cranberry, dried cherry, star anise and clove set against taut, close-grained tannins. Winner of the GamberoRosso Italian wine award for the region. A pale yellow colour with silver highlights, marked by finesse and luminosity.  Guerrieri Rizzardi is an historic Italian estate, established in 1914 but with vineyard holdings dating back to the 15th & 17th centuries, inherited from the Counts Guerrieri and Rizzardi respectively. To this day the estates are family-owned and run, currently by the brothers Giuseppe and Agostino Rizzardi, who have been operatively running the company since the late 1990s.

They have presided over a quality-based evolution from an already strong base and this focus has been rewarded by multiple awards every year since 2001, culminating in the acclaimed prize in 2015 of Gambero Rosso “Red Wine of The Year” for their flagship Amarone Calcarole. Innovations continue and the focus on the unique terroir of the single vineyard Crus has certainly paid dividends. This ‘3 Cru’ blend shows this work to perfection.

Reminiscent of Amarone, or top-notch Bordeaux, Gulfi holds the crown for what is possible from this native Sicilian grape.

Baronj is a historic Pachino cru which covers 3 ha and is noted for the whiteness of its soils, due to the composition being rich in limestone. The 40 year-old Nero d'Avola vines grow there at an altitude of 50 metres.

This chalky terrain confers on the wine a subtle and mineral character which is essential to the core balance of this wine. Highlighted on the nose is the cleanness of its notes of ripe fruit - black cherries, damsons, prunes and mulberry - complimented with tobacco and aromatic herbs. On the palate it is overtly generous, with some irresistible, enveloping tannins, yet a mineral flare that refreshes and beckons you back...

This is the very top cuvee from this illustrious estate founded in 1900. The Pinot Noir grapes come from a site with a south-western exposure and 15 years old vines giving the wine a medium weight and density. The aromas burst with wild herbs and berries mingling with complex fresh forest floor, so typical of the best expressions of Pinot Noir.

A delicious Welsh gin from The Gower Gin Company, made using a combination of eight botanicals - including juniper, lemon, pink grapefruit, bronze fennel and green fennel. A good balance of savoury and citrus sweetness.

HOW ITS MADE

''We make every drop of our award-winning Isle of Harris Gin here in the small village of Tarbert.

Our local distillers create this first offering from our island distillery in a small copper gin still which sits alongside her larger whisky-making sisters in the distillery's bright Spirit Hall.

We've nicknamed our gin still 'The Dotach' in honour of a similarly small and feisty local woman who is fondly remembered here in Harris from days gone by.

We use Sugar Kelp seaweed, gathered sustainably by hand from local sea-lochs, as our key botanical to express our island's unique maritime nature.

The spirit is softened by the fresh, low-mineral rainwaters which flow from the nearby source stream of Abhainn Cnoc a ’Charrain.

We bottle Isle of Harris Gin by hand here at the distillery too, before applying the labels and closing each one with a natural cork and wood stopper.

Finally, we apply a paper seal bearing our distillery's geographical coordinates to every single bottle by hand, your guarantee of a truly Outer Hebridean gin, made in the Isle of Harris and nowhere else.''

The original Hawkstone Lager. Bold, yet balanced, with a smooth body and top notes of light citrus complemented by a subtle, crisp bitterness and malty backbone. Setting the standard for a British Premium Lager. 4.8% vol.

Our house favourite for a traditional, great value gin. The new incarnation of Hawthorn's London Dry Gin still pays homage to the creator's seafaring grandfather, a commander in the British Navy during the war, and also still features botanicals sourced from all over the world, including juniper from Macedonia, nutmeg from Sri Lanka and cassia bark from Indonesia.

The brand revamped its core expression to increase the strength. Previously bottled at 37.5% ABV, now at 41% ABV which, in our opinion, makes that zestiness shine.

From a single vineyard, grapes are hand-picked when at full ripeness then gently pressed and cold settled in stainless steel tanks, the pressing juices are separated in to free run and pressings, this allows for better integration for the future wine. The two juices are then racked together for fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 14°C on average to naturally achieve 4.5g r/s. An increasingly popular grape variety in New Zealand, Pinot Gris thrives in the cooler influenced Nelson, gathering sweet pear and frangipane notes, alongside a wonderfully balanced texture of peach and apricot fruit on the palate.

The second permanent expression within The Hearach single malt range, The Hearach Oloroso Cask Matured launched on 24 September 2024, exactly one year after the historic release of the distillery’s inaugural whisky.

The lightly peated (12-15ppm) whisky is entirely matured in first-fill oloroso sherry butts, as you might have guessed from the name, sourced from the respected Bodega José y Miguel Martín in Andalusia, Spain. The Hearach Oloroso Cask Matured is bottled at 46% ABV, with no colour added, and non-chill filtered. The below tasting note comes from Harrison Wood, blender at the Isle of Harris Distillery.

Heidi Schröck took over her family winery in 1983, in the historic village of Rust situated in the province of Burgenland about 5 miles from the Hungarian border. As Heidi explains “South-facing vineyards in a softly rolling landscape form an amphitheater around Rust on Lake Neusiedl bringing forth some of the best and most tradition-rich wines in Austria. Yearly hours of sunshine that lie much higher than the Austrian average combined with sandy soils mixed with clay and high calcium content provide the ideal prerequisites for impressive, full-bodied wines.

Medium sweet with rich, ripe stone fruit, green mango, and waxy-honeyed tones but with a refreshing seam of acidity that makes the wine buoyant and light. So much complexity here, and so much quality.

Terra Alta's BEST Garnacha Blanca, as awarded 2019. Fans of white Burgundy will find pleasures old and new in this rich and complex wine from the up-and-coming Terra Alta region, inland from Barcelona. Fruit laden and floral on the nose, with graphite notes. The natural acidity has been retained, enabling the wine to be fresh and moreish rather than cumbersome and tiring on the palate, as seen in other Garnacha Blancas. From the century-old farm Benufet, located in Serra Xalamera, on calcareous, clayey soils, which are poor in organic matter. Grapes are manually harvested and selected then fermented in concrete barrels. Batonnage of fine lees for 2 months brings texture, depth, and a slight smokey hints. A final 'rest' in large, old oak brings the recipe together. A very gastronomic wine, with volume and poise. 

Strong dark brown with a delicate caramel taste. Soft in the drink with a pleasantly proud dark malt character, wonderfully full-bodied. Our Hofbräuhaus Traunstein Dunkles has been brewed according to tradition for over 400 years. The beer from the good old days.

Our favourite Gin discovered on holiday at St Mary's on the Isles of Scilly. Lovely balance of piney juniper, piquancy of cardamon, with a hint of orange, herbal lime leaf and warm familiar notes of cassia. Serve a large measure of Island Gin over ice, garnished with a fresh kaffir leaf and a dried orange slice, with two measures of tonic.

The best organic Sangiovese grapes are harvested manually during the cool night time, carefully selected and transported to the winery in small baskets. The bunches are then gently destemmed and undergo a spontaneous fermentation in small open top fermenters. The grapes are left to macerate on the skins for 24 to 30 days, and then softly pressed with a small bladder press. The wine is then aged for 24 months on its fine lees in neutral tonneau and barriques and an additional 6 months in the bottle before it is released. We only add a minimum quantity of sulfites to our wine prior to bottling. We do not fine, clarify, or filter our wines at any time during production nor do we chemically adjust it. Tiny quantities of this stunning wine are produced, so grab it while you can!

Aged in ex-rum casks made from the Mizunara Oak that grows in northern Japan. The twisted growth-habit makes for particularly difficult cooperage, but imparts a wonderful flavour and allows for a long, slow, micro-oxygenation through 8+ years of ageing. 

Quite exquisite, a sipping whisky for the connoisseur. 

One of the best Vodkas in Europe at the moment with a release of just 4,000 bottles per year. Complex and dense body; starts with soft sweet winter wheat followed by a nutty note and finally a complex dryness that flaunts the rye with a peppery note on the end.

Lágrima (meaning 'tears') is the sweetest style of white Port. An intense yet elegant sweet wine with notes of caramel, honey, and nut - all balanced by fresh acidity and leading to a long and appealing finish. The grapes are grown on the schistous soils of the Douro region. Vinification is in closed fermentation tanks, which is interrupted through the addition of grape brandy to preserve a high degree of natural sweetness. The wine is then aged in wood in Wiese & Krohn's cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Drink chilled as an aperitif, or with fruity desserts. It has been filtered, so won't need decanting - once opened it should 'keep' and be enjoyable for a few weeks.

An accomplished Chardonnay from northern Greece, that drinks more like Cru Burgundy! Perfumed aromas of melon, ripe pineapple and lemon combine with toasty butterscotch notes. Opulent and weighty, with a richly oaked texture, beautiful balance and spicy minerality on the finish. So, so good for the price - lovers of white Burgundy will be very happy here.

There's Greek wine and there's Greek wine... This is not the stuff of beachside Tavernas but comes from one of the most modern and accomplished winemakers in Greece. Whether you are a Viognier fan or not, this is a must-try; silken, rich and supple, beautifully fruited and just packed with complexity and finesse. A shop favourite.

The vineyards here are dry-farmed and hand-picked. They picked the fruit for the 2018 in two lots, 10 days apart. Two-thirds of the fruit that went into the 2018 Rays Road is from the early pick, described by winemaker Michael Brajkovich MW as ‘very distinctively limestone in character, with mineral, salty, flint characters that were certainly reminiscent of Chablis’, while the last third was much riper. Whole-bunch pressed, fermented with ambient yeast entirely in barrel, treated to 100% malolactic conversion and aged for 11 months in barrel.  Fresh and minerally and super-crisp but quite satisfying and not meagre at all. Super-clean. Just right for current drinking. If only all white burgundy offered this accessibility (I'm talking both price and taste). Really quite long. A neat, complete wine.

Domaine L’Ancienne Cure Jour de Fruit Monbazillac  is a wonderfully rich sweet wine made from low yields of late-harvested, botrytised, Semillon (90%) and Muscadelle (10%).  It has flavours of marzipan, orange peel and spices. Christian Roche has emerged in the last five years as one of the best growers in this appellation. A wonderful alternative to Sauternes, and better for youthful drinking.

Best drunk as an apéritif (with Roquefort), with foie-gras, melon, or with cakes and desserts.

The vineyards of L'Enfant are owned and controlled by one family, and are located in the La Seca region of Rueda. Head-trained bush vines range in age from 35 to 55 years and are hand harvested.A dry, tasty and perfectly balanced wine. Bright and mouthwatering, typical of the Verdejo grape, but it is also rounded with plush volume. Falling somewhere between a Sancerre and a Chablis stylistically, but with more (very appealing) leesy character that brings a savoury, lactic weight. Superb concentration whislt retaining a lightness of foot. Moreish!Pairs well with rice dishes, white meat and fish.

Picpoul vines grow just inland from the Étang de Thau, home to southern Languedoc's famous oyster and mussel beds. Along the coast you'll find cabins where locals gather to feast on mussels or 'huitres braisees' (oysters cooked over a fire pit) which are perfect with a glass of Picpoul de Pinet.

Gently perfumed, ripe melon fruit on the nose. The palate is ripe but retains excellent freshness, balanced by a touch of white pepper spice that is very typical of its grape variety. Deliciously long, the finish shows bright fruit and a clean, saline/mineral edge.
