Juicy, tangy, Sauvignon from the best plots of the Kuranui Vineyard in the upper reaches of the Awatere Valley, Marlborough. Here hot days and cool nights help the vines to produce grapes that are fully ripened but that retain some wonderful acidity. This is a serious cut above bulk New Zealand Sauvignon but comes at a great price.
La Lisse Soie d'Ivoire Chenin Blanc, Languedoc
Planted at altitude on the cooler, hillside slopes of clay and limestone in the foothills of the Pyrenees, this Chenin is one of the latest varieties to be picked, achieving full ripeness yet retaining a refreshing crispness. This ripe yet crunchy fruit gives this wine its freshness, vigour and structure as well as its luscious texture, which is further complemented and enriched from partial vinification and maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak. Incredible value and quite capable of handling more tricky food pairings, such as Thai Curry or Tagine.
