The vineyards of Villa Enzo are positioned on the gentle slopes of Abruzzo and this wine is made in the traditional way from 100% Montepulciano grapes. There is no influence of oak so this purple/ruby coloured wine offers pure, vibrant aromas of red cherry fruit. The satisfying palate is rich with juicy fruit and very approachable, soft tannins. A classic Italian wine.

Percheron is a French breed of workhorse, and this is our "workhorse" red. It is a real stalwart and hugely popular. Medium bodied, full of red fruit flavours and oh so clean on the palate. Tremendous value.

A great partner to rich and savoury red meat dishes such as salt-marsh lamb, or a gutsy bean casserole.

An unique take on Pinot Noir from two growers' plantings in the sun drenched vineyards of the Southern Languedoc. ‘Le Fou’ translates as ‘The Madman’, as it has long been thought only a madman would try to produce the perfect Pinot Noir in southern France.
Picked at optimum ripeness, balancing phenolics and acidity then cool vinified to enhance the fresh fruit flavours. No oak was used to keep this wine as pure and sensual as possible.
Fuller than Pinot Noir from Burgundy, it has a warm, rich nose with aromas of stewed cherries. The palate is nicely balanced with an exciting, savoury bitterness provided by ripe, tasty tannins.
Lovely with grilled lamb, cold meats, wild mushroom risotto or home-baked ham.

One of our bestsellers, this villages-quality Rhone wine seriously over-delivers. Supple and rounded, whilst packing a hit of white pepper and spice over generous dried strawberry and herbal notes. Delicately oaked, this is soft and velvety yet structured enough to hold up to robust southern-French cuisine, which it compliments wonderfully. .

 One of our favourite reds all year round.  A Jaen (Mencia)-led blend, which also features some Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro, aged without oak.  With typical Dao freshness, this is a herb-fruited, honest reflection of this great appellation. It’s fun and immensely drinkable.

A summery blend of Gamay and Pinot noir fromt the Nantais region of the Loire Valley. Comparable to a great Beaujolais, but without the ‘bubblegum’ notes those wines sometimes impart.  Juicy and refreshing, with light tannins, medium body, and a moreish finish. Also lovely lightly chilled.

A very smart Syrah from one of our favourite South African producers, this is plush, polished and seriously appealing. Fresh and lifted berry fruit aromas make for a very inviting nose; full yet elegant, with bramble, cassis and black cherry. These flavours follow on the palate with a typical Syrah note of black pepper spice. Fine, ripe tannins with a long rich, finish. Astonshing value.

Ciacci make wines across the Montalcino region of Tuscany. This Rosso wine is comprised of 85% Sangiovese blended with 15% Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah planted to vineyards located at 240-360 meters above sea level, where galestro soils dominate. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in cement vats. Sour cherry, spices and violets dominate, underpinned by subtle herbaceous notes and good grip from fully ripe tannins. An authentic Tuscan wine of superior quality. 

A red with layers of spicy fruit and damson, that massively over delivers.

Ripe, appealing aromas of plums, blackberries, and cherry and a hint of milk chocolate. Rich and spicy on the palate with dark fruit, balancing acidity and soft tannins.

Bodegas Juan Gil own over 500 hectares of vineyards, between 700 and 850 metres altitude, in the northwest of Jumilla: old bush vine Monastrell planted in chalky soils, and Shiraz grown in sandy soils on younger, trellised vines. Vinification is carried out at the winery in the heart of the Juan Gil vineyard area. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, temperature controlled, and the juice maintains contact with the skins during this 10-day process.

Will match up with rich pasta dishes with salami or ham, or a premium, meat-rich, lasagna with layers of meatballs and slices of pepperami in the mix! Sunny weather? - perfect for barbecues too.

A perfect blend of 4 grapes. The black fruit spiciness of Syrah, deep perfume from Petit Verdot,  plummy juiciness from Merlot, and deep power of Cabernet Franc. The palate begins fresh and fruity, evolving into riper flavours and rich black fruit notes, with elegant tannins and a fine, bright finish. Some whole bunch inclusion brings a brightness that lifts the wine. Moreish acidity and food-friendly tannic structure make this wine an epicure’s delight. Orgonic and Biodynamic.

The Producer; Circle of Life Red is neither defined by grape varietals, nor indeed a specific block within the vineyard, but instead encapsulates the myriad soils, aspects, altitudes and grape varieties found on this windswept, biodynamic farm. Grapes are hand-harvested and brought to the cellar by horses for hand-sorting. Bordeaux varietals are de-stemmed, whilst Rhone varietals are not de-stemmed. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with wild yeast in large, open-top wooden fermenters with foot-pressing or manual punch-downs, ageing for 20 months in the same vessels. The components are then blended and the wine ages further in large wooden foudre. No fining, just a light filtration. No additions other than sulphur. Vegan friendly, biodynamic wine.

Distinctive black cherry notes, with herbal and subtle tobacco aromas. Vibrant in acidity but well balanced. Light and juicy in texture with supple tannins and a sour cherry twist on the finish.

From the St Guilhem le Désert region in the sunny Val de Montferrand. Comprised of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Syrah, this wonderful southern French wine lives and breathes the Langueoc style. With a lush richness and an inviting character, some inclusion of whole-bunch Syrah adds a perfume and lightness to the palate. Medium-bodied and in no way overblown, there is a finesse and liveliness not often found in these grapes from this part of the world. Very 'alive' tasting. With 10 generations of organic winemaking under their belt, this family Chateau certainly know what they're doing!  ORGANIC.

2020 vintage

Gérald Lafont and Baptiste Olivier are known throughout France as two of the Rhône Valley's top oenologists. Their consulting work for many of the best estates throughout the region and in Provence has given them access to a percentage of the grape yield from some of the highest acclaimed vineyards in the region. Their collective wine-making knowledge and experience, combined with their access to some of the top fruit in the region, allows them to consistently create some of the best value wines in the Rhône today.

A luscious blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. Made from vines up to 70 years of age, the deep roots mine the mineral depths of one of the world's most famous terroirs. Such deep, entrancing aromas emanate from the glass; a rich blend of red and dark berry fruit, mixed with notes of earth, garrigue herbs, and hints of spice. It is structured and full-bodied, yet soft and sensual. Wonderfully minerality runs throughout the wine, mingling with lush cassis and dark jammy fruits that caress the palate.

Aromas are reminiscent of ripe black fruits such as blackberries, ripe cherries and plums, with floral hints such as violets blended with spicy notes, vanilla and chocolate driven by the oaked toasty bouquet. It is full-bodied, with sweet tannins and a velvety texture in the mouth that finishes long and smooth.

This complex and elegant Malbec spends 18 months in French oak barrels. Drinking well now but can easily age for 15+ years. Only on it's second vintage, this wine is already recieving accolaides such as 92pts from Tim Atkin MW and is rated among the top 4% highest rated wines in the world on Vivino.

This Pinot Noir with garnet-colored juice is perfumed with fine spices (nutmeg and cinnamon), mocha, and Montmorency cherry.  Its texture finds its balance in a generous flavor that is felt in a velvety tannin highlighting the finesse of the grape variety.

The vineyards is full of Turitelles fossils, these marine sediments are carried by a limestone and clay base, forming sloping plateaus in the landscape, on which the vineyard is located. This terroir in the foothills of the Pyrenees is known for the quality of its hillsides and its sunny and cool microclimate.

Wines from the Dao region represent some of the finest in Portugal. A Jaen (Mencia)-led blend, which also features some Touriga Nacional, aged without oak to retain a pure, fruit-driven style.

With typical Dáo freshness, this is an authentic reflection of this high-quality region. Subtle yet complex, showing fresh redcurrant and cranberry from the Jaen, mellowed by bramble, sloe, and forest-floor notes that bring to mind mushrooms and sweet earth. A savoury/herbal note balances the fruit wonderfully. Medium bodied and immensely drinkable, we were blown away by the quality and value of this wine. Ideal with game or try lightly chilled as an aperitif. Fans of Pinot noir will find much to like here. 

Perfect for summer, with its refreshing nature, and a wine we'll definitely be drinking a lot of ourselves!

Maias is the local name for the Weaver's Broom plant which surrounds the estate here and features on the label. Its yellow flowers blossom in May in this part of Dao, hence its nickname, as Maio is the word for May

This exceptional Pinot Nero is produced in tiny quantities from Cavit's very best vineyards. A very fine example of the grape by any standards. Grown on the south-west and south-east facing slopes around Povo; a mixture of glacial limestone and volcanic soils. Hand-harvested in mid-September. The must is fermented in contact with the skins for 10 days, and matured for 20 months in 225 litre French oak barriques. The wine spends around 10 months in bottle before release.

Coterie – a small group with shared tastes or interests - and a group we enjoy being part of with wines of this quality! Wildeberg’s rationale is to source the finest vineyards available across Franschhoek and the Coastal Region. These cuvees are selected to go into Coterie by Wildeberg.

Quite a grown-up wine, this is a textural, gently muscular expression of Cabernet Franc with Malbec. A Loire-inspired combination that was new in this South African model, but certainly a wonderful discovery. One wonders why it isn't being done elsewhere, but perhaps this special terroir plays as much a part. Rich, deep, and plummy from the Malbec, with fresh, herbaceous character supplied by the Cab Franc. Barrel fermented for 20 months. Great with grilled meats, especially lamb and spiced meat dishes.

An easy drinking Italian red made from Corvina and Merlot from the shores of Lake Garda. Perfect party wine.

2016 was a hit and miss year in Bordeaux, but Chateau Guillot Clauzet really hit the spot with careful management and selection to create this succulent and opulent Pomerol. Ripe and plummy, overlaid with smokey leather and forest-floor aromas, this elegant wine has matured beautifully. No need to wait - this is ready to enjoy now - but will continue to develop game and spice notes over the coming years with proper storage. Try alongside venison, pheasant, or strong cheeses. Delicious. 

13% abv

Caiaffa works to the principle of synergistic agriculture. They believe that nature is man's greatest collaborator and that it is nature which maintains balance. Certified organic, they do not use insecticides or pesticides in order to encourage a balanced ecosystem and work at one with nature.

Amazingly fresh nose, with aromas that bring to mind a cosy pub in winter. Smooth and easy drinking and showing impressive length. A touch of ‘bittersweet’ on the palate with liquorice and smoky notes balancing a rustic bramble-fruit profile. Despite these 'weighty' descriptors, the wine retains a lightness of touch and works just as well at cellar temperature as it does fireside. Three months in oak gives a rounded palate and balance. Great to pair with smoked ham or bacon, game, hearty soups and stews.

Aromas of bramble fruit, vanilla, nutmeg and sweet spice. The palate is rich and complex with blueberry and blackberry fruit, ripe tannins and good length.

Food match: Great with lamb chops, dishes with chorizo, and hearty vegetable casseroles.

Deep ruby with a nose of restrained power. Blue and black fruits, with hints of violets, cedar tar and spices. The palate has enormous power and persistence, yet the first impression is of elegance and grace, before finishing with full and ripe tannins.

Wow. We love this. If Pinot noir and Syrah had a love-child it would be this wine. Maybe with a little Cabernet Franc infulence on the side too. Crunchy red fruits, sweet earthy notes and a flash of black pepper and leafiness. The all-important acidity is retained here, with great density on the palate and a long, tasty finish. Pair with charcuterie and goats cheese. Heaven!

Established in 2009 by the Joubert family, their winemaking style is inspired by the Mediterranean climate. Their ethos is to create wines that reflect the unique terroir and elements of their remarkable location. In fact, Baleia is the only winery on the Lower Duiwenhoksrivier in Vermaaklikheid in the southern coastal area of the Cape. Baleia is Portuguese for whale and the striking labels are inspired by St. Sebastien Bay, the Whale Nursery of South Africa.

The true essence of Baleia is in the soil, consisting largely of pure, solid limestone with a very high mineral content. The climate, defined by their proximity to the sea, creates a particular mouthfeel to the wines with a chalky minerality and maritime salinity. This soil is also home to the very rare Canca fynbos, which is endemic to the South Coast and one of very few fynbos species to flourish in the alkaline environment of limestone outcrops.
Jancis Robinson in 2022 gave the Pinot Noir - 16.5 points.

Deep, brooding purple, aromas of eucalyptus and black fruits prevail. In the mouth, the medium-bodied palate belies the wine’s dark appearance. Ripe and fresh flavours of bramble, mint, currant and pomegranate highlight the palate. The finish is long and slightly grippy. 

Telmo Rodriguez is one of the most well known personalities in Spanish winemaking. This particular bottle was a stand out in a recent tasting - we can't believe how good it is for £13! 

A refreshing and fragrant Cabernet with fresh and bright flavours of blackcurrant. Silky textured, lifted on the mid-palate and with a smooth ripe finish.

Perfect with roast lamb with rosemary and garlic. Finish with a mature cheese such as parmesan.

Complex and elegant aromas, with black fruits and a subtle hint of oak. Supple tannins and a bright fruit packed finish.

Great with steak, roast lamb, game or rich stews.

An elegant, intense and fruit driven Rioja, form the esteemed Roda estate.

Sela is Tempranillo dominated and completed with a little Graciano and Garnacha. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels leading to an elegant, medium-bodied wine with fresh and flavourful red fruits, hints of sweet spice with polished, silky tannins. Everything is very well intergrated and the finish is satisfyingly persistent. 2015 is the current vintage, and drinking wonderfully right now. If you can wait, this stunning wine will develop beautifully in bottle for a further 10 years.
A wine that combines freshness and maturity it's versatile enough to match with roast beef, or spicy Indian dishes.

 A blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot, from well-sited vines planted on gravel soils. The wine has a bouquet of leather and cedar, with medium-bodied savoury cabernet character on the palate. From an attractive property located in the heart of the village of Léognan in the Graves region, this 2007 is a model of restraint and subtle charm. What's more, the wine is now at its drinking peak. Enjoyed now or over the next couple of years, it would make the perfect foil to lamb or roast chicken.

A lovely floral nose from the white grapes used. It is super-crunchy with fresh strawberry and cranberry fruit. The palate is ripe but the lovely fresh fruit character is beautifully balanced, a black treacle note brings a darker note to the finish.

Mainly Malbec but blended with a little Cabernet and even less Petit Verdot. Dark purple, with rich berry fruits with nuances of mocha and chocolate. Great with roast beef, or bbq ribs.

 Vibrant aromas of blueberries and black plums with a hint of toasty oak. The generous palate is packed full of juicy forest fruits and underpinned by a fine tannin profile. A balanced wine with a persistent fruit finish.

Purchased in 1998 by Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, internationally renowned
winemaker and co-owner of St Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé “A” Château Angélus,
Château La Fleur de Boüard is located close to the village of Néac on the most sought
after terroir of Lalande-de-Pomerol. A rich and beautifully full-bodied wine with aromas of blackberry, blueberry and vanilla. Well sculpted with floral notes and velvety tannins.

Vinification: Manual harvests in boxes throughout the entire estate. Double
sorting of the grapes with destalking (no crushing). Alcoholic fermentation in open vats (soft maceration for 3-4 weeks). 7 to 10 months in oak vat.
Style
A typical St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. A fruity and lively style, slightly spiced with floral notes. Enjoy up to 3-4 years after vintage.

Ooranic 100% Cab Franc

Vineyard :Granitic and alluvium soil. Natural cover cropping to avoid erosion. Treatments are limited as much as possible depending on the weather, no pesticides to preserve biodiversity, only organic fertilisers. Control
of vigour and yield by leaf stripping, debudding in spring and green harvesting for better ripening of the grapes.
Vinification: In the cellar, sorting, crushing and partial destemming. 3-week maceration in open tanks. Aged for 7 months 50% in barrels and 50% in vats. Assembly of the different plots before bottling.
Style: Pleasant and aromatic wine. Pretty fresh red fruits and delicate spices
give a beautiful expression of syrah.

Fiasco Vino Toscano is an affectionate, amusing nod in the direction of those straw-covered flasks which became such popular table lamps! The wine is a blend of bought-in organic grapes: Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Malvasia Nera & Colorino from Tuscany; Montepulciano from Le Marche and Frappato, Nerello Mascalese and Nero d’Avola from Sicily. Really gluggable and great value.

Grown according to sustainable viticulture with Guyot pruning. The bunches are harvested by hand
and then transported to the winery where they are sorted, with some de-stemming (maximum 25%),
then fermented using native yeasts in open wooden vats along with the whole bunches. The grapes are
crushed and pumped over daily. Traditionally long, the fermentation takes around twenty days after
which the wine is transferred to oak barrels and aged for 16 to 20 months on fine lees.
TASTING NOTE
Morello cherry, raspberry and a touch of blackcurrant and liquorice on the nose. The palate is firm and
fresh in youth and will continue to evolve beautifully.
FOOD MATCH
Vegetable gratin or pork loin. Also lovely with mild fresh cheeses such as Savarin or Epoisses.

Dark purple in colour with a vibrant edge. A vibrant bouquet of blueberry, blackberry and plum with layers of mocha, spice, and a hint of oak. The soft palate is full of rich black and red fruits with hints of spice, mocha and fruit cake, balanced by silky tannins on the finish. Full bodied, delicious and inviting, from a vintage which was in a word, "brilliant". Reach For The Sky is a soft, juicy style of Shiraz that reflects the opulence and diversity of Barossa. Sourced from estate-grown parcels, many vines of which are in their youth, including those grown from cuttings taken from the renowned 'Old Bastard' and 'Alte Reben' vines.

Each one of the family's vineyards is cultivated using the French Agriculture Raisonée method, a form of environmentally aware farming. Each bottle of Daniel's wine proudly bears the High Environmental Value label on it. 

But what of the wine? Freshly crushed black fruits and cassis dominate yet there's a crunchy fresh bite to it too. It scored 16.5/20 from Jancis Robinson MW who described previous vintages as “Grenache at it’s most delicate tasting… it has the luscious appeal of one of the finest Chateauneufs.” 

Jeb Dunnock was impressed too, giving it 90-92/100 and saying "the purity and freshness of the vintage as well as outstanding notes of red and blue fruits, sappy herbs/garrigue, and pepper. It’s nicely concentrated, elegant, medium-bodied, and just has everything in the right place. It will keep for over a decade."

Drink now and until 2030

Vanessa has just 3ha of red grapes. As far as we can ascertain they are the only red grapes in the appellation. The vines are around 35 years old and this particular cépage is made up of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon mainly grown on Schist. Ageing is in Concrete vat.

From vines grown on a combination of clay and limestone soils in th village of Verrains. Vinified with
indiginous yeast, exclusively in cocrete vat. The easiest of easy reds, silky enough to enjoy
by the pint glass! Bright red fruits and the gentlest of silky smooth tannin. Serve with the lightest chill to show it at its best. Perfect with lamb.

Beautifully vivacious and fruity on the nose. Mulberries, soft red fruits on the palate, with soft tannins
to give some pleasing structure to this very moreish light red wine. Organic.

The best organic Sangiovese grapes are harvested manually during the cool night time, carefully selected and transported to the winery in small baskets. The bunches are then gently destemmed and undergo a spontaneous fermentation in small open top fermenters. The grapes are left to macerate on the skins for 24 to 30 days, and then softly pressed with a small bladder press. The wine is then aged for 24 months on its fine lees in neutral tonneau and barriques and an additional 6 months in the bottle before it is released. We only add a minimum quantity of sulfites to our wine prior to bottling. We do not fine, clarify, or filter our wines at any time during production nor do we chemically adjust it. Tiny quantities of this stunning wine are produced, so grab it while you can!

Thomas Barton left his homeland of Ireland in 1722 and started a new life as a wine merchant in Bordeaux. His grandson inherited his passion for wine and acquired 50 hectares of vineyards in St Julien in 1826. This was the beginning of Leoville Barton, a prestigious wine estate. This second wine of Chateau Leoville Barton is made from younger vines making it more approachable than the Grand Vin. It has a complex aroma of balsamic, ink and pencil lead. It is a structured, balanced, generous wine with a spicy touch and delicious black fruits. It offers a powerful and dense sensation and a long finish.

The grape of Rioja, Tempranillo is always the perfect party choice; soft and juicy and always a crowd-pleaser.

Heaphy Pinot Noir is a gently perfumed and characterful wine, expressive of Nelson unique breezy and warm terroir. A well-balanced profile, showing plenty of fruit, energy, and desired juiciness.

Food match: Mushroom risotto, barbequed meats or stuffed roasted butternut squash.

First off, I don't normally like Pinotage, but this completly blew me away! Transient Lands Pinotage is an ongoing project to source, blend and bottle special parcels of Pinotage across the Western Cape and become an expression of each vintage through the grape’s proverbial lens. The blend incorporates Pinotage from diverse locations, each contributing its unique character. This includes granitic soils in the Polkadraai Hills above Stellenbosch, an old vine block in Stellenbosch's Helderberg region, the cooler climate and sandstone soils of the Stanford Foothills on the South Coast, and sandy granite soils in the Paardenberg of the Swartland. There is no "burnt tyre" here, just clean, crunchy and beautifully made red wine.

Rich plum and earthy tones with a hint of toasty oak on the nose. The palate has a lovely sweet entry, which builds in the mouth, supported by ripe and silky fruit and oak tannins.

A perfect accompaniment with spring lamb.

This wine is produced from the Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet and Aragonez grape varieties, and is aged in new French oak barrels. It is very fruity and full-bodied, with notes of red berries, black cherry and spice. It has great concentration and exuberance, and will age beautifully. 

This sensational Cabernet Franc carries spice and lightness from the glass to the palate. Full of vivacity, with good structure and fine tannins. Not overly herbaceous or extracted, this exudes the fruit and earth of Franc with a delicate hand. Nec-Otium matures the wine in old wooden barrels and bottles it unfiltered.

The grapes come from an old vineyard in the village of Buttrio, measuring about one hectare. The vines are managed organically but not certified. The grapes are picked by hand and the average yield is 20 hl/ha. They are fully destemmed before maceration and fermention is with natural yeasts. Matured in large oak barrels with ageing for a total of twenty months. Bottled with no fining or filtration.
