Gulfi NeroBaronj

This is Nero d'Avola like you've never had it before (unless you've had another of Gulfi's epic wines)!

Reminiscent of Amarone, or top-notch Bordeaux, Gulfi holds the crown for what is possible from this native Sicilian grape.

Baronj is a historic Pachino cru which covers 3 ha and is noted for the whiteness of its soils, due to the composition being rich in limestone. The 40 year-old Nero d'Avola vines grow there at an altitude of 50 metres.

This chalky terrain confers on the wine a subtle and mineral character which is essential to the core balance of this wine. Highlighted on the nose is the cleanness of its notes of ripe fruit - black cherries, damsons, prunes and mulberry - complimented with tobacco and aromatic herbs. On the palate it is overtly generous, with some irresistible, enveloping tannins, yet a mineral flare that refreshes and beckons you back...
