Lunchtime Barolo! Carema is one of Barolo's neighbours in Piedmonte, and offers a very similar wine at a more 'weekend' price than it's friend. Fermented in stainless steel vats, then transferred into large wooden casks for 12 months and for further 6 months in bottles before release. Released ready to drink. Will cellar for up to 5 years. 100% Nebbiolo.
Ruby of medium intensity with garnet red tints. Nuances of cinnamon and nutmeg as well as of red fruit preserved in alcohol. Smooth flavour, softly tannic, well balanced acidity due to its refining process in wooden casks. Leaves an intense aftertaste together with spicy nuances.
Suitable for dishes as agnolotti (sort of ravioli with forcemeat), risotto, polenta, black grouse or pheasant, grilled meat, salami and slightly mature cheese.
