Unusually prominent pear and lime fruit aromas and flavours are brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of bright natural acid and a long, dry minerality. An elegant, yet textured and intense wine with a strong personality of both place and vintage.

On low-vigour, stony, clay-rich soil, in a cool maritime mesoclimate, naturally tiny yields of well under 35 hl/ha give rise to a certain tightness, tannin line and elevated length to balance the richness and generosity of this Pinot Noir. The wine is not overtly fruity but it is soft and generous and shows hints of alluring savoury “primal” character along with a dark, spicy, complex primary fruit perfume. Classy and classic.

Proper Barolo, from a single vineyard in the commune of Bussia - one of the most highly rated of all. Firm, aromatic nose, showing red berries, delicate herbaceous and spicy nuances, hint of black berries, dried floral notes and mushrooms. Clear, bright, tart and juicy fruit with light roasted nutty notes and tobacco. One to enjoy now or will happily cellar for 10 years plus.

Californian Samantha O'Keefe is really blazing a trail in the mountains above False Bay. Aged in some new as well as some old oak barrels, this wine is a poised and balanced as a ballerina, and equally supple, agile and lithe. I refuse to make the old comparisons to wines of the old world, because this could well be better. Yes, and guaranteed special corks guarantee zero corked bottles, mean that careful cellaring for up to 25 years will result in incomparable results. I would rather you drink this, but investors will also be rewarded.
