A tight, minerally wine with classic Hamilton Russell Vineyards length and complexity. Unusually prominent pear and lime fruit aromas and flavours are brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of bright natural acid and a long, dry minerality. An elegant, yet textured and intense wine with a strong personality of both place and vintage.

Cult wine! Comprised of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cinsault and even a little Viognier, the fruit is sourced from all over the Cape area with each vineyard selected for the best quality fruit. You are enticed into the glass with a complex bouquet of blackcurrants, raspberries and mocha… On the palate, the wine explodes with black fruits, exotic spices, violets and vanilla. Full bodied most certainly! But the weight and supple tannins are well integrated, making this a very drinkable, extremely crowd-pleasing wine. 

Legendary wine from a legendary estate, this really is the stuff of legends! Since the Judgement of Paris, Clos du Val have been setting the standard for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This is bold, plush, rich and ripely fruited, and just hugs you like a bear. When Bordeaux becomes a little blasé, you go to Napa for some blue-sky thinking. With its funky, wonky bottle, this is instantly eye-catching, but this wine is no novelty! Made from the Nebbiolo grape - of greater fame in Barolo - but making no less of a wine here. And easier to approach in early years. Aromas of eucalyptus, exotic spice, underbrush and aromatic herb lead the nose. The tightly knit palate offers cranberry, dried cherry, star anise and clove set against taut, close-grained tannins. Winner of the GamberoRosso Italian wine award for the region. An off-piste but truly rewarding wine from Piedmont. Bolognese anyone?
