Domaine Langlois-Chateau is a fantastic producer from Saumur in the Loire Valley who specialise in creating wine from two unique grape varieties – Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Now owned by the Champagne house, Bollinger, it’s no surprise their wines exude elegance and class. Their vieilles vignes is the perfect definition of a Chenin Blanc made with vines over 35 years old. The nose is full of brown butter and stone fruit, mixed with cider-apple aromas and a hint of minerality. Round and creamy on the palate it is exceptionally well balanced with a mouthwatering acidity that retains freshness throughout. Complex and satisfying with lots of spiced baked apple and nutty flavours on the long finish. The 2017 is really coming into it's own now, displaying the wonderful waxy, honeyed-nut tones that Chenin develops with bottle age. A star buy for value and quality.
