Chateau Grange Cochard
Chateau Grange Cochard Morgan 'Cote du Py'
Cote du Py, the top site in Morgon, is one of the most reverred of the Beuajolais Cru wines.
Powerful, spice-scented red and blue fruit aromas are complemented by hints of candied flowers and incense. Broad and appealingly, offering deep boysenberry and cherry compote flavours. An ample yet energetic style, showing impressive, silky tannins and lingering, smokey, fruit-laden finish. Drink 2020-2028
The current Chateau Grand Cochard was built way back in 1759 but can trace it’s origins back to Roman times when it was a major route featuring on the Antonine maps of 280 AD. The vineyard consists of gnarly, low yielding 40-100 year old vines that provide great intensity and complexity. These old vines have deep root systems penetrating different layers of soil and rock. They are farmed organically and made with minimal sulphur.
One of our absolute bestsellers, this villages-quality Rhone wine seriously over-delivers. Supple and rounded, whilst packing a hit of white pepper and spice over generous dried strawberry andd herbal notes. Delicately oaked, this is soft and velevty yet structured enough to hold up to robust Southern-French cuisine, which it compliments wonderfully.
Los Haroldos Roble Chardonnay, Mendoza, Argentina
Wow we love this wine. An opulent, fruity palate, very ripe and tropical, with rich flavours of papaya, banana and peach. Toasty notes of vanilla and pastry follow, wrapping the wine in a delightful oaky embrace. Bargain Burgundy.
Nuovo Quadro Gavi di Gavi
A fine, single estate Gavi di Gavi from a 5 hectare plot on the La Battistina estate - textured and complex whilst retaining bright acidity. Pear and quince are balanced by notes of blanched almond and bay leaf. A very enjoyable wine of excellent quality.
Olifantsberg Blanc, South Africa
Rousanne, Grenache blanc, Chenin blanc and Chardonnay. A perfect harmony of northern and southern French varietals, grown in the hinterland of the South African cape. A wine that captures the diversity of this region - supple and complex, perfumed yet delicate. Extremely satisfying. Punches well above it's price point.
Louis Latour Domaine de Valmoissine Pinot Noir
Rapaura Sauvignon Blanc
From prisitne vineyards in Marlborough. Full-flavoured and exceptionally pure with sweet, juicy tropical flavours and succulent passionfruit, a lively whack of zesty citrus and freshly squeezed lime makes the finish luscious, dry and refreshing. A definite notch up from the 'supermarket Sauvignon' we've grown used to.
