Aglianico del Vulture Terre di Orazio wine is a really classic, mature, southern Italian red which is remarkably accessible for the notoriously tannic Aglianico grape. Terre di Orazio means ‘Land of Horace’ - the famous Latin poet was born here in Venosa. A warm and richly-flavoured oak-aged Aglianico. The Aglianico grape is believed to have been introduced to the region by the Greeks in the 6th or 7th century BC! 

With striking aromas of violet, bramble, and cassis, the generous palate is packed full of red and black berry fruits, with spice and well-integrated oak giving structure and length. At its best with pasta dishes, red meats and mature cheeses. A bold yet welcome friend through the winter months.

A perfect blend. Combining equal measures of three grapes; the black fruit spiciness of Syrah, deep perfume from Petit Verdot, and plummy juiciness from Merlot. The palate begins fresh and fruity, evolving into riper flavours and rich black fruit notes, with elegant tannins and a fine, bright finish. Some whole bunch inclusion brings a brightness that lifts the wine. Moreish acidity and food-friendly tannic structure make this wine an epicure’s delight.

The Producer; Circle of Life Red is neither defined by grape varietals, nor indeed a specific block within the vineyard, but instead encapsulates the myriad soils, aspects, altitudes and grape varieties found on this windswept, biodynamic farm. Grapes are hand-harvested and brought to the cellar by horses for hand-sorting. Bordeaux varietals are de-stemmed, whilst Rhone varietals are not de-stemmed. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with wild yeast in large, open-top wooden fermenters with foot-pressing or manual punch-downs, ageing for 20 months in the same vessels. The components are then blended and the wine ages further in large wooden foudre. No fining, just a light filtration. No additions other than sulphur. Vegan friendly, biodynamic wine.

A very smart Syrah from one of our favourite South African producers, this is plush, polished and seriously appealing. Fresh and lifted berry fruit aromas make for a very inviting nose; full yet elegant, with bramble, cassis and black cherry. These flavours follow on the palate with a typical Syrah note of black pepper spice. Fine, ripe tannins with a long rich, finish. Astonshing value. Ideal with spicy dishes, red meats and rich Mediterranean dishes.

This windswept Sauvignon Blanc is not concocted from over-croppped grapes, nor pumped up on clever winemaking additives. This authentic wine comes from cool, windswept, ocean-facing vineyards in Stellenbosch. These gems give up meagre yields and small berries, which are hand-harvested to ensure natural intensity and cutting acidity is preserved. Fresh and zesty with grassy and dry bay leaf aromatics, Fynbos (which surrounds the vineyards), mineral notes, with hints of citrussy richness. This is a restrained Sauvignon Blanc with a palate that has lots of minerality and citrus with just a touch of green pepper and grass. Fabulous seaside Sauvignon.

Grown, made and bottled in South Africa. It is crafted the wild way – old vine fruit from Stellenbosch and Swartland, fermented with wild yeast found naturally on the grapes…not in a packet. This magical transformation takes at least six months.
